antique silver 'topo' or 'tupo' (pin spoon) - Boliviathis is a silver pin with spoon's shape finial made in Bolivia in the 18th/19th century. This unusual pins were used by women indios (or 'cholas') to shut down their shawls. It bears the 'swan' mark used in France since 1893 for silver of unknown origin sold on public auctions. The pin is engraved with floral motifs, side scrolls and monogram AF. It is 11 1/2 in. long (cm. 29) and was bought by an Italian dealer at an Antique Market. This item is not for sale, but most of my pieces were bought through the Internet. On the right bar of this page there are some links to websites of silver and antique dealers | ||
