silver wedding spoon - Germanythis silver wedding spoon was presumably made in Germany at the end of 19th century/beginning of 20th century. It bears spurious pseudo ancient Augsburg's marks used by Ludwig Neresheimer of Hanau (Germany) and an Austrian import mark of the beginning of 20th century. Ref. Wolfgang Schleffer, Goldschmiede Hesse, mark #489 (the lowecase 'n' a variant of Neresheimer's legal trademark), #494 (the '13') & #499 (the faux Augsburg mark): courtesy Charles C. Cage). Three winged cupids fly over the bowl wich is embossed with Neptune holding a trident. The spiral stem has the finial in the shape of an ancient explorer (likely Columbus) with an anchor and an aboriginal inhabitant crouched beside him. The spoon is 8 in. long (cm. 20) and was bought from an Italian dealer at an Antique Fair. This item is not for sale, but most of my pieces were bought through the Internet. On the bottom and on the right bar of this page there are some advertisings of websites of silver and antique dealers | ||
