Spencer & Co. silver bowl - Englandthis little silver bowl (or christening mug) standing on four buttress feet was made in London in 1904 by silversmith Spencer & Co. The bowl has a shape inspired to the Celtic taste referable to the School of Glasgow and the architect Charles Rennie Mackintosh or to Christopher Dresser production. It is similar in shape to another bowl on my collection, made in 1909 by Hamilton & Inches of Edimburgh but it has a fluted edge with remembrances of Art Nouveau style. The bowl is 3 in. high (cm. 7,5) and was bought from an Italian dealer at an Antique Fair. This item is not for sale, but most of my pieces were bought through the Internet. On the right bar of this page there are some links to silver and antique dealers websites |
