silver Pan-Slavic salt cellar - Russiathis is a silver salt cellar made in Russia in 1879 in Pan-Slavic style. It has tapering cylindrical form standing on three bracket type feet, the upper perimeter is chased with a diaper frieze. To the base it bears the maker mark A.M. and a mark incorporating the date 1879 and the purity stamp 84 (84 zolotnick corresponds to 875/1000). Additionaly it is struck again with the purity mark 84 to the exterior base of one the the feet. The salt cellar is 2 in. wide (cm. 5) and was bought from an Australian dealer through the Internet. This item is not for sale, but most of my pieces were bought through the Internet. On the right bar of this page there are some links to silver and antique dealers websites |
