A SMALL COLLECTION OF ANTIQUE SILVER AND OBJECTS OF VERTU

silver holy water font - Italy

Sicilian antique silver holy water font this is a silver holy water font made in Palermo (Sicily) - Italy in 18th century by a silversmith who used the mark "VB" and a "sitting mastiff".
The silver has also later hallmarks used in Sicily after 1823.
The holy water font has floral decorations with garlands and a pair of rectangular holes that, maybe, once contained a coral fitting.
The holy water font is 5 1/2 in. high (cm. 14) and was bought from an Italian dealer at an Antique Fair.

This item is not for sale, but most of my pieces were bought through the Internet. On the bottom and on the right bar of this page there are some advertisings of websites of silver and antique dealers
