These are a type of small receptacle having a pierced cover that is used for sprinkling sugar, salt, pepper, spices, talc....
Usually they are of circular section and made in various styles, sizes and shapes (cylindrical, baluster, pear, vase). The cover is generally dome-shaped with piercing in varied pattern.
